Victory in NH

On February 11th Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary. We were able to attend the victory rally. Overall the New Hampshire primary was very fun to participate in, from the phone banking, canvassing, and even checking in volunteers, all of it allowed me to meet and talk to new people. So getting to participate in what I believe in, and making new friends during it has definitely  made me consider work on campaigns in the future and possibly even run for office someday.

Campaign work, and Democrat extravaganza

We did more canvassing within the Bernie campaign, along with phone banking to get out the vote. We also had a visit to the NHDP and met Raymond Buckley who told us about the state of the party in NH and the history of it. from there we went to St Anslem college at the institute of politics to observe how behind the scenes stuff at events like debates goes as well as polling. Speaking of debates we saw the NH debate which had a strong Bernie and Klobuchar showing. The next day we would have speakers Chris Pappas and Prof Scala talking about policies and the state of the race, later we would go to the Shaheen Democrat dinner to watch all the candidates speak, which was exhilarating to cheer with a crowd of likeminded people. Overall this middle leg of the trip has been smooth and exciting as well.

Iowa Caucus day and BERNIE IN NH

We had a great time helping out at Bernie HQ and learning GOTV routines for our campaign, and how to deal with certain situations while canvassing. We also got to see the Iowa caucuses, which haven't had any official results until 5pm the next day and it looks like Bernie will win the popular vote while Pete wins slightly more delegates, the biggest surprise being Biden bordering on non Iowa viability as of 71%. We also took a tour of the NH state house which is one of the oldest building's in the state, and its legislator's only make  $200 just like in the 1800s. The Gop Headquarters we visited was interesting as well with the strategists explaining the trump groundgame and outreach through Facebook. The day ended for us with a Bernie rally in which we help set up and attended, AND GOT TO MEET BERNIE. I'll try not to miss a day next time since it was due to the Iowa debungle.

Why I signed up

I signed up to RTWH to get more involved with the political process, and learn more about it in general. My expectations for the outcome of NH is a Sanders victory by a large margin especially if he wins Iowa. I chose the Sanders campaign because I agree with him most out of all the candidates , and he has the most involved and largest grass roots movement.
